Two organ pieces premiered

Two organ pieces, commissioned by Guðný Einarsdóttir organist in November, were premiered by her in November. Guðný played the pieces “Birting” and “Eyland” on the newly renovated organ at Háteigskirkja, Reykjavík. She has already recorded both pieces and they will be published in 2023.
Last couple of months have been quite busy for Umbra. First it was NOMEMUS medieval festival in Söderköping, Sweden, then Strasbourg playing in the Europe Council Hemicycle. Last night we played at Hurra, Reykjavík as a part of Vévaki release concert.
The Icelandic Voces Thules premiered the piece “Gekk ég í gljúfrið dökkva” for flute, celtic harp, hurdy gurdy, percussion and vocals on the 5th of April 2022.
The fourth album of Umbra was released on the 1st of May 2023. The album contains in total 16 tracks; folk songs and ballads – including both original compositions and arrangements of old tunes from old written transcriptions or tape recordings.
